The Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC) to address challenges facing media work, held separate advocacy meetings with government officials in Kundoz, Kapisa, Nuristan, Saripul, Farayab, Samangan, Nimroz, Ghor, Badakhshan, Zabul, Helmand, Laghman, Panjshir, Takhar and Daikundi provinces.
Police chief of Saripul, head GDI Kapisa, deputy director of GDI Nuristan, officials of directorates of propagation of virtue and prevention of vice in Nangarhar, Helmand, Bamyan and Badakhshan provinces, heads of directorates of labor and social affairs in Faryab, commerce and industry in Faryab, chamber of industry and mines in Samangan, environmental protection in Nimroz, economy in Kundoz, border and tribal affairs of Badakhshan, public health in Samangan, refugees and repatriations in Laghman, spokespersons for the police command of Ghor, Daikundi, Zabul and Takhar provinces, spokespersons for the office of governor of Ghor and Panjshir provinces as well as AJSC’s provincial representatives , had participated in these meetings.
In these meetings, challenges facing media work, appointing spokespersons, challenges of local media outlets in these provinces, facilitating better access to information and journalists’ safety were among the topics discussed.
Government officials, in addition to their support for media and journalists, said that they will cooperate in addressing challenges facing journalists.
AJSC has been consistently working to address challenges facing the media and facilitate a safe environment for journalists.
