The Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC) organized work meetings of the Joint Media-Government Committee (JMGC) in Nangarhar, Balkh, Zabul, Takhar, Uruzgan, Panjshir, Samangan and Paktia provinces. The meetings were held to address challenges facing media work and to strengthen the work of JMGC in these provinces.
Director general of Bakhtar News Agency, police chief of Patia, and officials of the information and culture directorates, AJSC’s zone coordinators and provincial representatives, spokespersons and representatives of a number of local government entities, media managers and local journalists of the said provinces participated in these meetings.
In these meetings, journalists’ safety, installation of frequency filters, high electricity costs of media outlets, hiring spokespersons, government officials’ cooperation with the media, challenges facing media work such as lack of access to information, broadcasting issues and financial hardships of the media houses were discussed.
AJSC has been consistently working to address challenges facing the work of journalists and facilitate a safe environment for them.
