The Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC) held a consultative meeting with journalists and media managers in Nangarhar province to hear their concerns, recommendations, and challenges.

The meeting was attended by AJSC officials, local media managers, active journalists from the province, and government officials.

During the discussion, participants highlighted irregular access to information, lack of effort in addressing challenges of local media houses, shortage of work equipment, and lack training programs aimed at improving journalists’ skills and professional capacity as the main challenges facing journalists in the province.

Jamil Weqar, head of AJSC, in addition to appreciating the work and commitment of journalists, stated that he’ll make every effort so that challenges of national and local media houses are addressed.

He further added that such meetings help us gain an accurate understanding of the realities, needs, and challenges journalists face, enabling better planning for the future and more effective responses to these issues.

AJSC has been consistently working to address challenges facing the work of journalists and facilitate a safe environment for them.
