The Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC) organized meetings with spokespersons and media officers of local administration in Ghazni, Kundoz, Parwan, Zabul, Faryab, Baghlan, Panjshir, Uruzgan, Helmand, Nuristan and Jawazjan provinces to facilitate journalists and media outlets’ timely access to credible information.
AJSC’s zone coordinators for central, north-eastern and capital zones, AJSC’s provincial focal points, spokespersons for the governor’s office in Ghazni, Faryab and Uruzgan, spokespersons for police command of Zabul, Helmand, Baghlan and Panjshir, media officers and spokespersons for intelligence directorate of Zabul, directorate of agriculture, livestock and irrigation of Jawzjan, directorate of public health of Kundoz, propagation of virtue and prevention of vice directorate of Parwan, and municipality of Qalat city, had participated in these meetings.
In these meetings the concepts related to information and importance of journalists’ access to information were discussed, and the need for government entities at the local administrations in facilitating access to information was emphasized.
Government officials in these meetings promised to cooperate with the journalists and the media outlets, and provide journalists with the needed information.
AJSC has been continuously working to facilitate a safe environment for journalists and media workers across the country.
