Mawlawi Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA), visited the Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC).
During the meeting, topics such as coordination between the government and the media, journalists’ safety, addressing the economic challenges of media houses, and challenges facing media work were discussed.
Jamil Waqar, head of the AJSC, emphasized the importance of media work and stated that ensuring a safe working environment for journalists, along with addressing the challenges faced by media houses, particularly economic issues such as high electricity costs, frequency fees, and high taxes, can help sustain media work.
IEA spokesperson, referring to the role of media in society, stated that the country’s media sector faces numerous challenges and that the government is working to address them. Mr. Mujahid also said that effective measures will soon be taken to change media electricity tariff’s rate from commercial to residential, as well as to reduce frequency fees and taxes on media houses.
AJSC has been consistently working to address challenges facing the media and facilitate a safe environment for journalists.
