The Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC) coordinator for western zone shared the challenges facing journalists and media outlets with Shaikh Mohammad Khalid Hanafi, Minister for the Propagation of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Complaints Handling.
Mawlawi Ahmadullah Muttaqi, head of Herat’s information and culture directorate, Mawlawi Azizur Rahman Al-Muhajir, director of Herat’s propagation of virtue and prevention of vice directorate, Mawlawi Saif-ul-Islam Khaibar, spokesperson for the said ministry, and a number of journalists from Herat province had also participated in the meeting.
Shamil Ahmad Mashal, AJSC’s coordinator for western zoned, discussed the current situation of media outlets in the region, the broadcasting challenges they face, and the need to improve journalists’ access to information. He also called for greater attention from government authorities to support the country’s media sector.
Minister of propagation of virtue and prevention of vice described the media as an important part of the state, adding that the ministry is prepared to cooperate with media outlets in addressing their challenges.
AJSC has been consistently working to address challenges facing the media and facilitate a safe environment for journalists.
