Kabul, Afghanistan: The meeting was focused on discussing security threats, the future of women journalists, and women journalists’ concerns about the ambiguous process of peace talks. Members of the Female Journalists Advocacy Group expressed concern about the low presence of women journalists in the media, saying that targeted killings had had a negative impact on their media activities.
Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC) gender coordinator briefed members of the advocacy group on the AJSC activities during security threats against journalists’ lives and expressed concern about the current situation. Wahida Faizi, AJSC gender coordinator said that the Female Journalists Advocacy Group will advocate with media officials to improve job security/safety for female journalists in the coming days.
