The Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC) organized a consultation and coordination meeting with a number of women journalists and media officials to facilitate better coordination among media houses and to address challenges facing women journalists.
The AJSC’s activities across the country to address challenges facing journalists, re-establishment of the Media Violation Commission (CMV) and the committee’s membership of it, implementation of the mass media law, coordination between media houses and media support organizations, and overall challenges facing the media sector, were among the topics discussed in this meeting.
In addition to welcoming the re-establishment of the Media Violation Commission and the committee’s membership in it, women journalists and media officials urged for women representation in the composition of this commission. They also emphasized that the commission should maintain independence and act in accordance with the law.
