The Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC) in the west zone organized an advocacy meeting with Hayatullah Mahajer Farahi, deputy minister of publications of the Ministry of Information and Culture (MoIC), Mawlana Naiemullhaq Haqqani, head of Herat province’s Directorate of Information and Culture, and local media outlets and journalists.

In the meeting, topics such as financial challenges facing media outlets, lack of access to information of journalists and resumption of work of the Commission on Media Violations (CMV), were discussed.
Deputy minister of publications of MoIC, in this meeting, reiterated his support for media and said that the CMV has resumed its work and is trying to address challenges facing media outlets in the country. He further added that all government entities have been instructed to cooperate with media and facilitate better access to information for journalists.

Furthermore, head of information and culture directorate of Herat province ensured that cooperation and coordination with media will further improve in the future.
The AJSC praises the good relations between the Directorate of Information and Culture of Herat province and local media outlets and journalists, and urges that challenges facing media outlets, especially the economic problems, be addressed.
