The Afghan Journalsits Safety Committee (AJSC), in order to address challenges facing media work, held advocacy meetings with Noel Villaroman, head of UNAMA central zone human rights office in Logar province, and Sarah de Mol, head of UNAMA’s regional office in Bamyan province.
Sayed Amin Hamta, AJSC’s provincial focal point for Bamyan, Khanwali Ahmadzai, AJSC’s provincial focal point for logar, and a number of local journalists of these provinces had participated in these meetings.
In these meetings, topics such as the overall media work situation in these provinces, facilitating capacity building opportunities for journalists, financial challenges of the media houses, and journalist’s access to information were discussed.
UNAMA officials in these provinces promised to make efforts to address challenges facing journalists and media workers.
AJSC has been consistently working to address challenges facing the media and facilitate a safe environment for journalists.
