The Afghan Journalists Safety Committee, to address challenges facing media work, held separate advocacy meetings with government officials in Maidan Wardak, Kunar and Kundoz provinces.
Mawlawi Habibullah Mujahid, head of Maidan Wardak’s information and culture directorate, Mawlawi Shahabuddin, head of Kunar’s Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherikat (DABS), and Rahmatullah Totakhil, deputy director of Kundoz’s directorate of public health, and AJSC’s provincial focal points had participated in these meetings.
In these meetings, challenges facing media work, facilitating better access to information, journalists’ safety, financial issues of media houses, and creating better working relationship between media and the government were discussed.
Government officials, in addition to their support for media and journalists, said that they will cooperate in addressing challenges facing journalists.
AJSC has been consistently working to address challenges facing the media and facilitate a safe environment for journalists.
