To facilitate journalists’ access to information, the Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC) organized separate meetings with spokespersons of various government entities in Paktia, Baghlan and Zabul provinces.
AJSC’s provincial focal points, Mawlawi Rahmatullah Hamad, head of Zabul’s directorate of information and culture, Mula Alam Majidi, spokesperson for the office of governor of Baghlan, spokespersons for the office of governor, intelligence directorate and police command of Zabul province, Abdul Rahim Sahak, media relations manager of Paktia University, and Mawlawi Mohammad Dawood Hemat, head of RTA Zabul, had participated in these meetings.
In these meetings, challenges facing media work, facilitating journalists’ better access to credible and on-time information, and creating better working relationship between media and the government, were discussed.
Spokespersons of various government organizations promised to cooperate with the journalists and the media, and facilitate journalists’ access to information.
AJSC has been consistently working to address challenges facing the media and facilitate a safe environment for journalists.
