To address challenges facing media work, the Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC) organized separate advocacy meetings with provincial officials in Kundoz, Laghman, Zabul, Kunar and Ghor provinces.
Matiullah Rohani, head of Kundoz’s directorate of information and culture, Mawlawi Jan Mohammad Hamed, head of Laghman’s directorate of economics, Abdul Hai Zaeim, head of Ghor’s directorate of information and culture, Ziullhaq Hamed, Kunar’s police chief, Mawlawi Musa Kalim Abulnaser, head of security and acting police chief of Zabul, Mawlawi Mohammad Ibrahim Jawid, head of Zabul’s directorate of propagation of virtue and prevention of vice, and AJSC’s provincial focal points for the said provinces had participated in these meetings.
In the meetings, challenges facing journalists, journalists’ access to credible and on time information, safety of journalists, were discussed.
In the advocacy meetings, government officials of these provinces, promised that government agencies will facilitate improved cooperation and coordination with the media.
AJSC has been consistently working to address challenges facing the media and facilitate a safe environment for journalists.
