To facilitate journalists’ access to information, the Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC) organized separate meetings with spokespersons of various government entities in Nimroz, Farah, Bamyan and Maidan Wardak provinces.
Rahimullah Sajid, spokesperson for the office of Nimroz’s governor, Abdul Saboor Saighani, spokesperson for the office of Bamyan’s governor, Wahidullah Sarwari, spokesperson for the office of Maidan Wardak’s governor, Mohammad Nasim Badri, spokesperson for Farah’s police command, and AJSC provincial focal points had participated in these meetings.
In these meetings, challenges facing media work, safety of journalists, facilitating journalists’ better access to credible and on-time information, and creating better working relationship between media and the government, were discussed.
Spokespersons of various government organizations promised to cooperate with the journalists and the media, and facilitate journalists’ access to information.
AJSC has been consistently working to address challenges facing the media and facilitate a safe environment for journalists.
