To address challenges facing media work, the Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC) organized separate advocacy meetings with provincial officials in Kandahar, Kundoz, Baghlan, Bamyan, Zabul, Nimroz, Farah and Badghis provinces.
Inamullah Samangani, head of Kandahar’s directorate of information and culture, Mawlawi Najib Ghafori, head of Kundoz’s directorate of propagation of virtue and prevention vice, Asadullah Mustafa Hashimi, head of Baghlan’s directorate of information and culture, Mawlawi Mahmood-ul Hasan Mansoor, head of Bamyan’s directorate of propagation of virtue and prevention vice, Mawlawi Habibullah Elham, head of Nimroz’s directorate of information and culture, Mohammad Qasem Mohammad, Head of Nimroz’s directorate of natural disaster management, Mawlawi Abdullah Riaz, head of Nimroz’s directorate of refugees and repatriation, Mohammad Dawood Hanafi, head of Farah’s directorate of agriculture, Mohammad Rozi Mansoor, head of Badghis’ directorate of rural rehabilitation and development, Hamidullah Hamid, head of Farah’s department of physical education, Mawlawi Hekmatullah Hassan, head of Farah’s department of information and AJSC’s provincial focal points for the said provinces had participated in these meetings.
In the meetings, challenges facing journalists, journalists’ access to credible and on time information, safety of journalists, were discussed.
In the advocacy meetings, government officials of these provinces, promised that government agencies will facilitate improved cooperation and coordination with the media.
AJSC has been consistently working to address challenges facing the media and facilitate a safe environment for journalists.
