The Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC) organized work meetings of the Joint Media-Government Committee (JMGC) in Parwan, Kundoz, Kunar, Badakhshan and Kapisa provinces The meetings were held to address challenges facing media work and to strengthen the work JMGC in these provinces.
Deputy governors of Parwan and Kunar provinces, police chief of Kapisa provinc, directors and other officials of the information and culture directorates, AJSC provincial representatives, spokespersons and representatives of a number of local government entities, media managers and local journalists of the said provinces participated in these meetings.
In these meetings, journalists’ safety, government officials’ cooperation with the media, challenges facing media work such as lack of access to information and financial hardships of the media houses were discussed.
The JMGCs were established in these provinces at the recommendation of the AJSC, to address the challenges facing media and journalists, and facilitating better working relationship between government and the media.
AJSC has been consistently working to address challenges facing the work of journalists and facilitate a safe environment for them.
