The Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC) shared challenges facing journalists and media houses with Shaikh Shir Ahmad Haqqani, governor of Laghman province. Acting director of information and culture and head of RTA Laghman had also participated in this meeting.
In this meeting, issues such as financial challenges facing media houses, the overall media situation in this province, journalists’ safety and access to information were discussed.
Mirwais Khwakhogi, AJSC’s provincial focal point for Laghman, in addition to providing information on AJSC’s activities, emphasized on the need for the governor’s office’s cooperation in facilitating journalists’ access to timely and credible information and urged the governor to address challenges facing journalists.
Governor of Laghman province in addition to appreciating AJSC’s activities supporting journalists of this province, said that he will organize regular meetings with journalists to address the challenges they are facing.
AJSC has been consistently working to address challenges facing the media and facilitate a safe environment for journalists.
