The Afghan Journalists Safety Committee, to address challenges facing media work, held separate advocacy meetings with government officials in Khost, Logar, Paktika and Paktia provinces.
Shir Ahmad Usmani, head of Khost’s information and culture directorate, Mulah Farmanullah Haqqani, head of Paktika’s directorate of martyrs and disabled, Qari Obaidullah, GDI Khost’s spokesperson, Mustafar Gurbaz, spokesperson of Khost’s office of the governor, Maiwand Hamdard, spokesperson of Paktia’s directorate of agriculture, Ahamd Munir, head of Logar’s ATRA office, provincial representatives of AJSC, and a number of media mangers and journalists of local media houses of these provinces had participated in these meetings.
In these meetings, challenges facing media work, frequency fees, installing frequency filters, facilitating better access to information, journalists’ safety were among the topics discussed.
Government officials, in addition to their support for media and journalists, said that they will cooperate in addressing challenges facing journalists.
AJSC has been consistently working to address challenges facing the media and facilitate a safe environment for journalists.
