The Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC) to address challenges facing media work, held separate advocacy meetings with government officials in Kandahar, Helmand, Zabul and Uruzgan provinces.
Mawlawi Inamullah Samangani, head of Kandahar’s information and culture directorate, Rahmatullah Raihan, head of Uruzgan’s information and culture directorate, Aminullah Badakhshani, head of Helmand’s propagation of virtue and prevention of vice directorate, Mawlawi Hekmatullah Mohsen, head of information department of Zabul’s directorate of information and culture, Mohammad Nabi Agha, head of Kandahar’s ATRA, provincial representatives of AJSC, and a number of journalists from Kandahar, Helmand and Uruzgan provinces, had participated in these meetings.
In these meetings, challenges facing media work, financial challenges of local media outlets in this zone, installation of filters on transmitters, facilitating better access to information and journalists’ safety were among the topics discussed.
Government officials, in addition to their support for media and journalists, said that they will cooperate in addressing challenges facing journalists.
AJSC has been consistently working to address challenges facing the media and facilitate a safe environment for journalists.
