The Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC), to address challenges facing media work, held separate advocacy meetings with government officials in Nangarhar, Laghman, Kunar and Nuristan provinces.
Qari Ihsanullah Sajid, head of Nangarahr’s information and culture directorate, Mawlawi Najibullah Hanif, head of Kunar’s information and culture directorate, Mawlawi Abdul Noor Rasooli, head of Laghman’s information and culture directorate, Mawlawi Samiullhaq Haq Bayan, head of Nuristan’s information and culture directorate, Mawlawi Zabihullah Zaki, head of communications and technology directorate of Nangarhar, Mawlawi Quddratullah Shamshir, head Kunar’s directorate of statistics and information authority, Rahimullah Shinwari, head of ATRA in eastern zone, Mawlawi Sediqullah Quraishi, head of Nangarhar’s information department of information and culture directorate, Mohammad Younos Yousofzai, head of Laghman police command’s media relations, Azizullah Aziz, AJSC’s coordinator for the eastern zone, AJSC’s provincial focal points and a number of journalists of Nangarhar and Kunar provinces had participated in these meetings.
In these meetings, challenges facing media work, financial challenges of local media outlets in this zone, installation of filters on transmitters, facilitating better access to information and journalists’ safety were among the topics discussed.
Government officials, in addition to their support for media and journalists, said that they will cooperate in addressing challenges facing journalists.
AJSC has been consistently working to address challenges facing the media and facilitate a safe environment for journalists.
