The Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC) to address challenges facing media work, held separate advocacy meetings with officials of the Information and Culture Directorates in Ghazni, Kundoz, Bamyan, Daikundi, Kapisa, Ghor, Zabul, Nuristan and Kunar provinces.
Hamidullah Nisar, head of Ghazni’s information and culture directorate, Sayed Mustafa Salih, head of Bamyan’s information and culture directorate, Mawlawi Karimullah Wasiq, head of Kapisa’s information and culture directorate, Qari Agha Wali Quraishi, head of Daikundi’s information and culture directorate, Mawlawi Abdul Hai Zaeim, head of Ghor’s information and culture directorate, Mawlawi Rahmatullah Hammad, head of Zabul’s information and culture directorate, Fazelhaq Khaliqyar, acting head of Nuristan’s information and culture directorate, Mawlawi Shah Mohamad Zulfiqar, deptuty director of Kunar’s information and culture directorate, Baryalai Hamnawa, head of information department of Kundoz’s information and culture department, zone coordinators and provincial representatives of AJSC, had participated in these meetings.
In these meetings, challenges facing media work, extending media licenses, financial and broadcasting challenges of local media outlets, facilitating better access to information, high electricity bills, and journalists’ safety were among the topics discussed.
Government officials, in these meetings promised to address challenges facing journalists, and that the local government entities will work to facilitate journalists’ better access to information.
AJSC has been consistently working to address challenges facing the media and facilitate a safe environment for journalists.
