AJSC Holds Advocacy Meetings with Government Officials in the South Zone

The Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC) to address challenges facing media work, held separate advocacy meetings with government officials in Kandahar, Helmand, Zabul and Uruzgan provinces.


Mawlawi Inamullah Samangani, head of Kandahar’s information and culture directorate, Rahmatullah Raihan, head of Uruzgan’s information and culture directorate, Mawlawi Abdulhai, head of Uruzgan’s propagation of virtue and prevention of vice directorate, Mawlawi Gul Ahmad Hanafi, treasurer of Zabul, Abdul Mati Haji Lala, governor of Sangin district, Abdul Rashid Hedayatullah, mayor of Tarinkot city, Qasem Riyaz, spokesperson for the office of Helmand’s governor, Mawlawi Asef Agha, media relations manager of Kandahar’s intelligence directorate, Ali Mohamad Darwish, media relations manager of Uruzgan’s intelligence directorate, Ezzatullah Haqqani, Helmand plice command’s spokesperson, Mawlawi Mohammad Khan, head of revenue department of Zabul’s treasury, AJSC’s zone coordinator for the southern zone and provincial representatives as well as local journalists had participated in these meetings.


In these meetings, challenges facing media work, financial challenges of local media outlets in this zone, local media houses’ tax payments, facilitating better access to information and journalists’ safety were among the topics discussed.


Government officials, in addition to their support for media and journalists, said that they will cooperate in addressing challenges facing journalists.


AJSC has been consistently working to address challenges facing the media and facilitate a safe environment for journalists.
