AJSC Holds Advocacy Meetings with Government Officials in the East Zone

The Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC) to address challenges facing media work in the eastern zone, held separate advocacy meetings with government officials in Nangarhar, Laghman and Kunar provinces, in the past month.


Mawlawi Abdullah Haqqani, deputy governor of Kunar, Mawlawi Akhtar Mohammad Muzamil, deputy governor of Laghman, Mawlawi Najibullah Hanif, head of Kunar’s information and culture directorate, Mawlawi Abdul Noor Rasouly, head of Laghman’s information and culture directorate, Shaikh Mohammad Salim Haqqani, head of Laghman’s council of religious scholars,  Qazi Bilal, advisor of Nangarhar’s electricity directorate, Mawlawi Sediqullah Quraishi, head information department of directorate of information and culture directorate of Nangarhar, AJSC’s zone coordinator and provincial representatives, and a number of media managers and journalists of local media houses, had participated in these meetings.


In these meetings, challenges facing media work in this zone, high electricity costs of media houses, appointing spokespersons, facilitating better access to information and journalists’ safety were among the topics discussed.


Government officials, in addition to their support for media and journalists, said that they will cooperate in addressing challenges facing journalists.


AJSC has been consistently working to address challenges facing the media and facilitate a safe environment for journalists.
