The Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC) to address challenges facing media work, held separate advocacy meetings with officials of the Information and Culture Directorates in Nangarhar, Laghman, Panjshir and Kunar provinces.
Qari Ihsanullah Sahjid, head of Nangarhar’s information and culture directorate, Mawlawi Abdulnoor Rasouli, head of Laghmans’s information and culture directorate, Mawlawi Mawlawi Najibullah Hanif, head of Kunar’s information and culture directorate, Abdul Mutalib Ameri, head of youth department of Panjshir’s information and culture directorate, eastern zone coordinator and provincial representatives of AJSC, had participated in these meetings.
In these meetings, challenges facing media work, financial challenges of local journalists, particularly women journalists in Nangarhar province, facilitating better access to information, the issue of installation of frequency filters in radio transmitters, and journalists’ safety were among the topics discussed.
Government officials, in these meetings promised to address challenges facing journalists, and that the local government entities will work to facilitate journalists’ better access to information.
AJSC has been consistently working to address challenges facing the media and facilitate a safe environment for journalists.
