AJSC Organizes Work Meetings of Joint Media-Government Committees in Eight Provinces

The Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC) organized work meetings of the Joint Media-Government Committee (JMGC) in Balkh, Paktika, Baghlan, Panjshir, Uruzgan, Zabul, Helmand and Faryab provinces. The meetings were held to address challenges facing media work and to strengthen the work of JMGC in these provinces.


Deputy governor of Paktika, officials of the information and culture directorates, AJSC’s zone coordinators and provincial representatives, spokespersons and representatives of a number of local government entities, media managers and local journalists of the said provinces participated in these meetings.


In these meetings, journalists’ safety, hiring spokespersons, government officials’ cooperation with the media, challenges facing media work such as lack of access to information, high electricity costs, broadcasting issues and financial hardships of the media houses were discussed.


The JMGCs were established in these provinces at the recommendation of the AJSC, to address the challenges facing media and journalists, and facilitating better working relationship between government and the media.


AJSC has been consistently working to address challenges facing the work of journalists and facilitate a safe environment for them.
