AJSC Holds Advocacy Meetings with Government Officials in 12 Provinces

The Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC) to address challenges facing media work, held separate advocacy meetings with government officials in Nangarhar, Kundoz, Ghazni, Faryab, Logar, Paktika, Badakhshan, Kunar, Baghlan, Zabul, Nuristan and Helmand provinces.


Officials of the information and culture directorates of Helmand, Ghazni, Paktika, Badakhshan, Nuristan, Zabul and Nangarhar, directors of propagation of virtue and prevention of vice in Logar and Faryab, directors of communication and information technology in Nangarhar, eduction in Paktika, economy in Kunar, refugees and repatriation in Paktika, petroleum and mines in Baghlan, martyrs and disabled in Faryab and disaster management in Faryab, as well as AJSC’s zone coordinators and provincial representatives, had participated in these meetings.


In these meetings, challenges facing media work, facilitating better access to information, appointing spokespersons, broadcasting and financial challenges of local media outlets and journalists’ safety were among the topics discussed.


Government officials, in addition to their support for media and journalists, said that they will endeavour to address challenges facing journalists.


AJSC has been consistently working to address challenges facing the media and facilitate a safe environment for journalists.
