AJSC Organizes Coordination Meeting with Government Officials in Balkh Province

To address challenges facings local media houses and journalists, the Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC) organized a coordination meeting with provincial officials, media managers and local journalists of Balkh province.


In the meeting which was organized to facilitate better coordination between government officials and mediaAbdul Latif Sahak, AJSC’s coordinator for North Zone, Zabihullah Nurrani, director of Directorate of Information and Culture, head of information department of GDI in Balkh, Atta Mohammad Saho, head of information department of Directorate of Information and Culture, and local media managers and journalists of Balkh province had participated.


In the coordination meeting, in addition to discussing challenges facing media houses and local journalists such as high electricity prices and issues created in media houses extension of their frequency licenses, journalists urged the government officials to distribute Ministry of Information and Culture issued-identification cards for the journalists and media workers of Balkh province.


Head of information and culture directorate, in this meeting, said that Ministry of Information and Culture issued-identification cards will be distributed to journalists in the near future. He further added that to address local media houses challenge in extending their frequency licenses, a coordination meeting between officials of Afghanistan Telecom Regulatory Authority (ATRA), AJSC representative and local media managers.


The AJSC has been tirelessly working to facilitate a safe environment for journalists and better coordination between government and the media.
