The Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC) organized coordination and advocacy meetings with provincial officials, media managers and local journalists of Balkh, Samangan and Jawzjan provinces.
In the meetings, the right to access to information, journalists’ safety, frequency fees, cooperation and coordination between government and the media, addressing financial issues of media houses, and other media related issues were discussed.
Mawlawi Zabihullah Shaheen, head of Balkh’s telecommunication directorate, Hafiz Mohammad Nouman Sabet, head of Balkh’s telecommunications regulatory authority, Mawlawi Saifuddin Moutasim, head of Jawzjan’s information and culture directorate, and Qari Ahmadullah Badr, Samangan’s police chief, had participated in the advocacy and coordination meetings.
In the advocacy and coordination meetings, government officials of these provinces, promised to facilitate smooth extension of media houses’ frequency licenses and journalists better access to information.
The AJSC has been tirelessly working to facilitate a safe environment for journalists and better coordination between government and the media.
