To address challenges facing media work, the acting director of the Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC) met with governor, director of propagation of virtue and prevention of vice directorate, director of information and culture directorate, media managers and local journalists of Badakhshan province.
Abdul Qadeem Wyar, acting director of the AJSC, in separate meetings with governor, director of propagation of virtue and prevention of vice directorate and head of information and culture directorate of Badakhshan province, raised the challenges facing media work such as lack of access to information and media houses’ financial hardships and said that AJSC has been working to facilitate a safe working environment for media houses, and journalists’ better access to information by creating better coordination between media and government officials in this province.
AJSC acting director, in addition to meeting local media managers and journalists of Badakhshan province, visited Amu, Baharistan and Harim-e Zan radio stations, and Pamir radio and television network. In these meetings, AJSC acting director, after hearing to media workers problems, said that AJSC is working to so that journalists and media workers challenges are addressed.
Mawlawi Amanudin Mansor, governor of Badakhshan province, appreciated AJSC’s work and promised to address challenges facing journalists and local media houses. To facilitated journalists’ better access to information, he said that the local administration will recruit spokespersons for government entities.
Moazuddin Ahmadi, Badakhshan’s director of information and culture directorate, said that this directorate has a number of initiatives are under work, which will address all the challenges journalists are facing, after they are implemented.
Mawlawi Shir Mohammad Jawad, director of propagation of virtue and prevention of vice directorate of Badakhshan province, said that they support the media inside the IAE’s basic principle’s framework, under the condition that they consider themselves responsible for informing the public and reporting the truth.
The AJSC has been tirelessly working to facilitate a safe environment for journalists and better coordination between government and the media.
