The Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC) held a meeting with Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA), to address challenges facing media work and create better coordination between government officials and media houses.
In addition to the need for journalists’ access to information, addressing cases of violence against journalists and safety of media workers, AJSC urged Mr. Mujahid to accelerate the work of the Commission on Media Violations (CMV).
In the meeting, Zabihullah Mujahid said that the work of the CMV in addressing challenges and violations of the media and journalists is effective and they are committed do serious work through the media violations commission. He further added that, due to other engagements and obligations, the CMV meetings were not held regularly, but in the near future, the CMV will carry out its mandate regularly.
Gullabuddin Amiri, AJSC’s coordinator for the Central Zone, in the meeting with IAE spokesperson, said that AJSC remains committed to supports journalists and media workers in any situation. He also added that the AJSC, as a member of the CMV, wants all media-related cases and issues should be addressed and dealt with through the media violations commission.
The AJSC has been tirelessly working to facilitate a safe environment for journalists and better coordination between government and the media.
