In continuation of the capacity building programs of the Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC), “Journalists Safety and First Aid,” “Cyber Security,” “Psychosocial Support” and “Gender Sensitive Reporting,” training programs were organized for 148 journalists and media workers of Kabul, Nangarhar, Balkh, Badakhshan, Takhar, Nimruz and Kunar provinces.
Journalists Safety and Cyber Security training programs were held for 60 journalists and media workers in Takhar, Nimruz, and Kunar provinces. In the training programs, journalists and media workers were trained on subjects such as safety measures while reporting from crowded areas and protest sites, workplace safety, providing first aid for different types of wounds, CPR, protecting and caring for wounds, data security and protection, malwares, phishing, identifying threats, social engineering, etc.
Additionally, 68 journalists and media workers participated in the Psychosocial Support Training program in Kabul, Nangarhar, Balkh and Badakhshan provinces, where they learned about mental wellbeing, mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety, etc. and ways to cope with them. Participants of the Psychosocial Support program, after taking part in the general session on psychosocial issues, were introduced to individual counseling sessions based on their needs.
Furthermore, 20 journalists and media workers learned about identifying gender-sensitive topics, gender-sensitive journalism, maintaining gender equality in content production and managing media houses.
AJSC organizes capacity building programs to enhance journalists and media workers capacity and improve their skills in various fields related to journalistic work.
