The Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC) shared challenges facing journalists and media houses in the central zone in a meeting with Mawlawi Khairullah Khairkhwa, minister of information and culture.

In addition to sharing journalists’ issues such as access to information, economic hardships and lack of spokespersons and information officers in a number of governmental entities, Gulabudin Amiri, AJSC coordinator for the central zone, urged the minister of information and culture to expand the work of the Commission on Media Violations (CMV) to the provincial and zones levels.

Minister of information and culture, in addition to announcing his support for the media, said that he’ll do everything to improve the working situation of the journalists and media workers. Minister Khairkhwa further said that to address the economic hardships of the private media, necessary steps will be taken.

The AJSC has been tirelessly working to facilitate a safe environment for journalists and better coordination between government and the media.
