To address challenges facing media work, the Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC) organized a coordination meeting with Gulden Yeroz, acting head of United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) regional office in Herat, Olivia Nyakarungi, UNAMA regional office’s human rights officer, while a number of local journalists of this province were also present.
In this meeting, challenges facing media houses and journalists in the western zone of the country, especially financial problems, women journalists’ work, and organizing capacity building training programs for journalists were discussed.
Shamil Ahmad Mashal, AJSC’s western zone coordinator, emphasized the need to finding adequate solutions to journalists’ problems and urged this international organization to focus on addressing these issues.
The AJSC has been consistently working to address challenges facing the media and facilitate a safe environment for journalists.
