The Commission on Media Violations (CMV) resumed its work on August 12, 2023, by holding an introductory meeting under the chairmanship of Mawlawi Khairullah Khairkhwah, acting minister of information and culture.
In the meeting, Abdul Qadeem Wyar, deputy and acting director of the Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC), In addition to emphasizing the need for a clear and effective mechanism for the CMV, also raised the recent arrests of journalists and stressed on the establishment of a clear information sharing regarding the journalists and media workers who are being arrested.
Furthermore, in the CMV’s meeting, better coordination between journalists and government and responsibilities of both parties were discussed.
Meanwhile, it was decided that the CMV meetings shall be held twice every month and emergency meetings shall be convened where necessary.
