The Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC) shared challenges facing journalists and media houses in the southern zone with Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, during a meeting in Kandahar province. Inamuallh Samangani, head of information and culture directorate, and a number of local media managers and journalists, also participated in the meeting.
Ahmad Lodin, AJSC zone coordinator for the southern zone, in addition to sharing challenges facing journalists and media houses in this zone, discussed the work of the Media Violations Commission (MVC), the process of identifying and issuing identification cards for journalists and the mass media law, and urged the IAE spokesperson to put in place certain measures to address these challenges.
Zabihullah Mujahid said that the MVC’s activities will be accelerated, adding that the financial and work-related challenges of journalists and media houses will soon be addressed. Mujahid asked the media managers to create networks to generate revenue through ad-placement, and asked the AJCS to facilitate professional training opportunities for journalists.
The AJSC has been consistently working to facilitate a safe environment for journalists and better coordination between government and the media.
