The Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC) introduced Dost Mohammad Wahdat as its provincial focal point for Nuristan province.
Mawlawi Samiullhaq Haqbayan, head of information and culture directorate of Nuristan, Abdul Jamil Weqar, AJSC case manager, Hasibullah Fararoon, AJSC programme manager, Yousof Zarifi, AJSC east zone coordinator, a number of officials from information and culture directorate, journalists and media workers of this province participated in the meeting held for this purpose.
In the meeting, Abdul Jamil Weqar, AJSC case manager, in addition to Introducing Mr. Wahdat and providing information on AJSC’s work and activities in support of journalists and media houses, raised the challenges facing journalists and the need for development of private media in this province.
Mawlawi Samiullhaq Haqbayan, head of information and culture directorate of Nuristan, thanked the AJSC officials for taking the trip to this province and promised to cooperate with the AJSC’s newly appointed provincial focal point. He further added that his directorate endeavours to serve the media in this province and improve public’s access to information.
Furthermore, before Dost Mohammad Wahdat, Sahibdad Hamdard served as AJSC provincial focal point for Nuristan province.
The AJSC has been consistently working to address challenges facing the media and facilitate a safe environment for journalists.
