The Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC) in separate meetings whit heads of information and culture directorates of Nuristan and Kunar provinces, shared challenges facing media outlets in these provinces.
In the meetings, in addition to discussing issues such as safety of journalists, media outlets’ financial challenges and journalists’ access to information, the need for coordination between media and government was emphasized.
Mawlawi Samiullhaq Haqbayan, director of information and culture of Nuristan, Mawlawi Najeebullah Hanif, director of information and culture of Kunar, Hasibullah Fararoon, AJSC programme manager, Abdul Jamil Weqar, AJSC case manager, Yousof Zarifi, AJSC east zone coordinator, Dost Mohammad Wahadat, AJSC provincial representative for Nuristan, Fazel Wahed Afkari, AJSC provincial representative for Kunar, journalists and media workers of these provinces participated in these meetings.
Directors of information and culture directors of these provinces, in addition to announcing their support for the media work, promised that government agencies will facilitate improved cooperation and coordination with the media.
The AJSC has been continuously working to facilitate a safe environment for journalists and better coordination between government and the media.
