The Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC) shared challenges facing media work and journalists with Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA), in Kandahar province.

AJSC officials, in addition to sharing the challenges facing journalists and media houses such as financial issues, safety and lack of access to information of journalists and lack of cooperation by government spokespersons, called for addressing these challenges.

Abdul Qadeem Wyar, deputy and acting director of the AJSC, discussed the need for media sector governing laws, adding that lack of such laws inhibits continuation and progress of media work.

Mr. Mujahid, IEA spokesperson, said that development and progress of the media sector is one of the main goals of the government, which can be achieved through joint work.

The AJSC has been working for facilitating better work relationships between the government and the media, and a safe environment for journalists.
