AJSC Shared Journalists’ Challenges with Minister Khairkhwa in Helmand Province

The Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC) shared challenges facing journalists and media houses with Mawlawi Khairullah Khairkhwa, acting minister of Ministry of Information and Culture (MOIC), in a meeting held in Helmand province.


Hafiz Abdul Bari Rashid, head of information and culture directorate, Abdullah Haqmal, AJSC provincial focal point for Helmand province, Mohammad Qasem Riaz, spokesperson for the governor’s office, and a number of local media managers and journalists of this province also participated in the meeting.


Abdullah Haqmal, AJSC provincial focal point for Helmand province, discussed challenges facing journalists and media houses, shared local media community’s requests with the minister and urged the government officials to address the challenges.


Mawlawi Khairullah Khairkhwa, acting minister of MOIC, in addition to emphasizing on the importance of media, said he is ready to cooperate with journalists and media houses in accordance with the regulations.


The AJSC has been working for facilitating better work relationships between the government and the media, and a safe environment for journalists.
