The Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC) organized advocacy and coordination meetings with government officials in Helmand province.
These meeting were held with Mawlawi Mohammad Nabi Hamas, deputy governor of Helmand, Mawlawi Mohammad Amin Badakhshani, head of prevention of vice and propagation of virtue directorate of Helmand, Mawlawi Mohammad Qasim Riaz, spokesperson for the office of governor of Helmand, and local media managers and journalists.
Matiullah Sarwar, AJSC’s government relations coordinator, in addition to sharing challenges facing media work with the officials in Helmand province, discussed issues such as access to information, journalists’ safety, and creating better working relations between government and media.
Government officials, in these meetings, promised that government agencies will facilitate improved cooperation and coordination with the media.
The AJSC has been working for facilitating better work relationships between the government and the media, and a safe environment for journalists.
