AJSC Organizes Advocacy Meetings with Government Officials in Southern Zone Provinces

To address challenges facing media work, the Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC) organized separate advocacy meetings with provincial officials of Kandahar, Helmand, Uruzgan and Zabul provinces.


Inammullah Samangani, head of Kandahar’s directorate of information and culture, Ahmad Lodin, AJSC’s coordinator for the southern zone, Mufti Abdul Jalil Sufian, head of Zabul’s appellate court, Khalifa Mohammad Ibrahim Jawid, head of Zabul’s directorate of propagation of virtue and prevention of vice, Mawlawi Shir Mohammad Wahdat, head of information department of Helmand’s directorate of information and culture, Bilal Uruzgani, spokesperson for Uruzgan’s police department, and AJSC’s provincial focal points for the said provinces had participated in these meetings.


In the meetings, media houses financial challenges, journalists’ access to credible information, safety of journalists and creating better working relationship between media and government, were discussed.


In the advocacy meetings, government officials of these provinces, promised that government agencies will facilitate improved cooperation and coordination with the media.


The AJSC has been working for facilitating better work relationships between the government and the media, and a safe environment for journalists.
