Job Description
Overall Purpose:
The Provincial Focal Point will play a critical role in the timely collection and dissemination of data regarding the status of media workers and organizations at the provincial level. This position involves providing updates and reports on incidents of violence against media personnel and organizations. Additionally, the incumbent will represent and coordinate the effective operations and activities of the Afghan Journalists Support Committee (AJSC) at the provincial level.
The Focal Point will maintain close contact with provincial stakeholders and ensure a secure and efficient network for the transmission of data and information. This role also requires strong data and task management skills to enhance the overall progress and achievements of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of media workers and organizations at the provincial level.
- Conduct timely follow-ups on cases of violence against media workers and media outlets in the province.
- Regularly update and manage the communication network with active journalists and media houses in the region.
- Assist in collecting requested data and facilitating training, surveys, and counseling sessions for media workers.
- Organize logistical arrangements, including venues for workshops, seminars, and meetings conducted by the main office.
- Hold regular meetings with relevant government officials and media owners to address issues affecting media workers and organizations in the province.
- Meet regularly with active media workers to gather feedback and concerns regarding their safety and media activities.
- Attend annual meetings, workshops, and seminars organized by the main office for capacity building and information sharing.
- Monitor all process activities during program/project implementation regularly.
- Provide detailed progress reports to the management team and stakeholders regarding ongoing project activities at the provincial level.
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports based on monitoring records and progress updates.
- Conduct a final provincial evaluation of projects to ensure objectives are met.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Assist in drafting reports and other administrative tasks that may arise under tight deadlines.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor in line with AJSC regulations and objectives.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Law, Literature, or a related field from a reputable institution.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.
- Strong planning, organization, leadership, and project monitoring skills.
- Fluency in English, Dari, and Pashto.
- Proficiency in computer applications.

- Experience in supervising teams in various locations.
- Background in remote management.
- Self-motivated while being a collaborative team player.
- Capacity to work under pressure and manage stress levels effectively.
