16 Years of Reporting in Afghanistan

AJSC organized the first photo exhibition, which captures various aspects of the media activities across Afghanistan. The main goal of the event was to illustrate the remarkable growth of media and freedom of expression, which is considered Afghanistan’s biggest achievement since 2001. At the same time, it features the harsh and often unfriendly environment that media workers operate in, particularly in insecure parts of the country.

Afghanistan Center at Kabul University (ACKU) hosted the event. “People on regular basis don’t get to see the amount of work journalists and media workers put into providing news and information to the public on daily basis. This exhibition is organized so that people get to see what a journalist goes through to bring the news to us” says Najib Sharif, Director of AJSC.

The exhibition was widely welcomed by journalists, media directors, students and others who participated in the event. In the exhibition photos from more than 7 provinces of the country were put on display by several photojournalists.

The exhibition will be open for public for the next two months in Afghanistan Center at Kabul University (ACKU). AJSC will then send the photos to the provincial hubs of the country to get a nationwide coverage.
