AJSC Organizes Advocacy Meetings with Governors of Herat, Ghazni and Maidan Wardak Provinces

The provincial representatives of the Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC) held advocacy and coordination meetings with governors of Herat, Ghazni and Maidan Wardak provinces, and a number of media officials and journalists of these provinces.



In the meetings, the right to access to information, government officials’ cooperation with media, and addressing financial challenges of the media such as heavy taxes, extension of media licenses, and changing electricity tariffs from commercial to residential, were discussed.



The advocacy and coordination meetings were held with Mawlawi Nurudeen Ahmad Islam Jar, governor of Herat province, Mawlawi Ishaq Akhundzada, governor of Ghazni province, and Mawlawi Aminullah Omari, governor of Maidan Wardak province.



The governors of these provinces, in addition to announcing their support for media and journalists, promised facilitating better access to information, addressing financial challenges of the media, and cooperation of local officials, during these meetings.
