The Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC) hosted Andrea Cairola, Senior Programme Specialist for Freedom of Expression and Safety of Journalists at the headquarters of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and Basir Quraishi, Senior Programme Officer at UNESCO Kabul office.
In the UNAMA officials visit to the AJSC, topics such as journalists’ safety, economic hardships of media houses, coordination between media support organizations and the overall challenges facing media work were discussed.
In the meeting, in addition to appreciating the AJSC’s efforts for the rights and safety of journalists and media workers in Afghanistan, UNESCO officials reiterated their commitment for supporting the Afghan media.
