The Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC) organized coordination meetings with government officials of Balkh, Khost, Helmand and Saripul provinces. These meetings were organized to strengthen the work of Joint Media-Government Coordination Committee (JMGCC) in these provinces.
Directors and other officials of the information and culture directorates, AJSC provincial representatives, spokespersons and representatives of a number of local government entities, media managers and local journalists of the said provinces participated in these meetings.
In these meetings, journalists’ safety, government officials’ cooperation with the media, challenges facing media work such as lack of access to information and financial hardships of the media houses were discussed.
The JMGCCs were established in these provinces at the recommendation of the AJSC, to address the challenges facing media and journalists, and facilitating better coordination between government and the media.
The AJSC has been continuously working to facilitate a safe environment for journalists and better coordination between government and the media.
